Essential Documentation

Pro Tip: Never pack these in your checked suitcase. Keep them in your personal carry-on (backpack/purse) so you can access them at the terminal.

  • Passport or Birth Certificate: A passport valid for 6 months beyond the travel date is highly recommended. For closed-loop cruises from the U.S., an original or certified copy of a birth certificate plus a government-issued photo ID is required for those 16+. For more details, visit: http://www.carnival.com/cms/faqs/new_passport_requirement.aspx

  • Boarding Passes: Printed or saved to your digital wallet via the Carnival app

  • COVID-19/Health Documents: (If applicable) Check current requirements for your specific ports

  • Notarized Letter for Minors: If a child is traveling without both legal parents/guardians

  • Travel Insurance Information: Policy details and emergency contact numbers

  • Cruise Website Link: For the most up-to-date requirements, visit Carnival Travel Documentation & Requirements

Onboarding & Offboarding: Document Best Practices

1. Boarding Day (On-board): Keep your ID and boarding pass in your hand or an easy-access pocket. You will need to show them at least three times before you even step onto the boat. Once you reach your cabin, place your original documents in the stateroom safe immediately.

2. Port Days (Off-board): When you get off the ship in the Bahamas or other ports:

  • Leave the original passport/birth certificate in your room safe. * Take with you: Your Sail & Sign card, a government photo ID (like a Driver's License), and a printed photocopy of your passport. Do NOT carry your original passport off the ship unless specifically required by that country's local laws. Instead, plan ahead:

    • Print out a high-quality color photocopy of your passport

    • Keep a digital photo of your passport on your phone (available offline)

  • Check the Clock: Always keep your watch set to Ship Time. Local time in port can sometimes be different, and the ship will not wait if you are late! Keep track of port departure times via the Itinerary

3. Final Morning (Disembarkation) Keep your ID and customs forms easily accessible in your carry-on for when you exit the terminal in Miami.
